"A household based in north London seeks an remarkable and qualified educator to support their smallest child on his early path to becoming an British gentleman."
Upon seeing this post, you might naturally overlook the wording "beginning" as just an expression.
But, it may be the crucial aspect of this unusual job advert, as it aims to find a tutor for a 12-month-old.
Hundreds of applications have already been submitted since the unidentified family published their request for the £180,000 per year tutor, who has to be "someone very special".
During the past few weeks, the listing has received interest throughout the media, with several asking why?
Forward-Thinking Method
Adam Caller, head and founder of a global tutoring firm, which is assisting the family in their hunt, stated that notwithstanding early scepticism, he found the plan "far sighted", and "advanced".
When he spoke with the family, he mentioned they appreciated the unconventional nature of their demand, and how young their son is.
However, they clarified that they "preferred not to postpone any longer" to engage a tutor, as they had waited until their firstborn was five, and by that stage "cultural influence had already taken hold".
But what did the family refer to by "cultural leaning"?
It's "comprehensive", the expert answered. "How you eat, the manner you speak".
He said the elder child had picked up "really subtle, body language" from the family, and had assumed their cultural ways. The family told the consultant they did not want history to happen again with their younger child.
The strategy: To hire a British tutor, who must speak with standard English accent, to shape the baby from the very start.
Natural Absorption
"A lot of the education at the outset here is rather acquired indirectly," stated the expert.
It's via this osmosis that the family are hoping the child will pick up the British traits they want to impart.
Adam said the tutor must be an individual who attended "the appropriate educational institutions – similar types of schools as the family aspire to send their son to".
"The instructor just has to be the appropriate candidate, they'll be carrying out things they may not realize they're doing, just naturally," he said.
Cost Not Relevant
The family explained to Adam the selected educator should preferably also have understanding of or interest in equestrian activities, winter sports, creative fields and instrumental training so as to shape the child in a wide range of passions.
Additionally though, he said the family desired the tutor to enrol the child on a selection of courses so the child would be "horseback riding and learning an instrument by the time they are approximately three years old".
In the family's minds, helping their son develop into a "UK sophisticate" will result in success and create opportunities.
"For all the advantages and disadvantages of that, because it's definitely a class statement," he comments.
However, despite all this tutelage in "Britishness", would the child absorb alleged cultural bias from the globally influenced family he lives with regardless?
"Absolutely", said Adam. "The family know this could fail, but they've simply adopted the attitude of, 'we should try and we should start as early as we can', because the price of it is irrelevant," he explained.
Idealistic and Unrealistic
Several in the tutoring industry who have those reservations.
Another CEO, head and founder of Blue Education, who also offer personal educators, stated that "the journey of embracing two identities, or in fact, discovering oneself, is something that must be grown into, not manufactured."
The expert wrote that he had relocated from China to the United Kingdom at the age of 7 years old, and had been educated understanding and embodying dual heritages. He continued to be educated at Cambridge University.
"The notion that a single person can serve as a living vessel of English culture, a person who can somehow transfer the characteristics of a UK sophisticate upon a 12-month-old child, appears optimistic and unfeasible," he stated.
"From my perspective, engaging a distinctly British tutor from early childhood will does not automatically create the result they desire.
"I never had that kind of mentor, and yet I have been lucky enough to live numerous of the opportunities they aspire for their son."
He added: "The truth is, cultural identity cannot be dictated from the outside influences; it must be selected, and it must originate internally."
Purchasing UK Culture
Certainly, UK identity is something Adam hopes can be taught – and commercialized.
"I believe the situation that the world regards us in this light is something that we should be cherishing|valuing|appreciating
